Hand off campaign responses and record consent
Turn campaign responses into leads, and record or check consent before you contact someone for marketing purposes.
Before you begin
- The Campaigns and responses feature must be on for responses.
- Consent is kept in the Marketing module's consent register. CRM asks it and writes to it. With no Marketing register, purpose-bound contact is refused: 'No consent register is installed (Marketing).'
Hand a campaign response to sales
Marketing and other feeds record clicks, opens, form fills and replies against a campaign. Each response is stored once per source id.
- Open CRM > Leads > Campaign responses. The list shows Campaign, Response, Who, Channel/Contact, Detail, When and State.
- Open a new response.
- Press Hand off to sales to pass it on, or Ignore to dismiss it.
What happens next
- If an open lead has the same e-mail or phone, the response is linked to it and its state becomes handed off.
- If not, a new lead is captured, attributed to the campaign, in the first stage that does not need qualification, owned by you.
- An ignored response gets the state ignored. A response already dealt with gives 'This response was already dealt with.'
A response never implies consent. The row says consent is not implied. Handing off does not write any consent record.
Record consent
- Open the deal and go to Timeline & consent.
- In the Consent panel choose the Channel (for example e-mail), the Purpose (for example
newsletter) and the Status (for example Opted in). - Enter the Evidence: where the consent came from, such as
Signed form 2026-10-01. - Press Save.
The row is written to Marketing's register with this deal as the source, and shows with its history. Opting someone out uses the same panel with the status changed.
Evidence is required for opted in: 'Say where the consent came from - a form, a signed paper, a recorded call.'
How consent affects activities
Activity types may carry a Consent purpose. A call or e-mail activity of a purpose-bound type is allowed only if the register says the contact agreed. Types with no purpose, or with transactional or support, need no consent. Meetings and internal tasks need none.
If consent is missing, you see "<contact> may not be contacted by email for newsletter: <reason>." Nothing is saved. After the consent is recorded, schedule the activity again. If the person later opts out, the next attempt is refused again.
Read the timeline
Timeline & consent also lists, newest first and read-only, notes, stage entries, assignments, activities, campaign responses and consent changes for the deal.
Good to know
- Recording consent needs
crm.manageand the right to change the deal. - If your company has no Marketing register, ask the administrator to install Marketing before relying on purpose-bound contact.
- Responses are listed company-wide, not by team.
