Turn POS features on and off
Choose which POS features the company uses and set the rules for optional fields.
Before you begin
- You are a company administrator.
- You know which features the company needs. Switching a feature off hides its menus and refuses changes to its records; existing lists remain readable.
The feature switches
Open Applications > Point of Sale > Features.
| Switch | When off |
|---|---|
| Promotions and coupons | Promotions, Coupons and POS price rules menus disappear. New or changed promotions and coupons are refused. |
| Loyalty and stored value | Loyalty, gift card, voucher and store credit menus disappear. |
| Suspended sales | The Suspended sales menu goes and hold routes are refused. The till cannot hold bills. |
| Card terminals | Card terminal routes for payment intents and settlements are refused. |
Selling and Offline cannot be switched off.
Steps
- Open Applications > Point of Sale > Features.
- Move the switch you want.
- Confirm the change on screen and check the menus.
Field rules
Open Applications > Point of Sale > Fields to decide how two optional fields behave.
| Field | Choices |
|---|---|
| Coupon end date | Hidden, Optional, Required, Read only |
| Gift card and voucher expiry | Hidden, Optional, Required, Read only |
- Required: an asterisk shows and the record cannot be saved without a date.
- Hidden: the box is gone; a date sent anyway is refused.
- Read only: shown but locked.
Rules held in the profile
The rules of a till live in its POS profile. You can read them under Point of Sale > POS setup > POS profiles (also shown as Offline profiles, Session profiles and Cash control profiles). They cannot be edited on screen yet; ask your implementation partner to change one.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Prices include tax | Shelf price is the price paid; net = price / 1.05 |
| Maximum line / bill discount % | Above these, a manager must approve |
| Allow price override | Turns the Price button on |
| Cash rounding | 0.05 rounds the payable to 5 fils |
| Opening float mode | Only a fixed float is enforced |
| Blind close | Hides expected cash while closing |
| Variance tolerance / approval above | 5.00 and 50.00 in RETAIL |
| Offline selling, maximum minutes, maximum amount | Offline limits |
| Hold reservation minutes | Default 30 |
| Minimum shelf-life days | Lots with fewer days left are refused |
| Fiscal required | Bills go online and need a fiscal adapter |
Some settings are stored but not enforced yet: safe-drop threshold, maximum drawer cash, carry-forward and blind opening modes, offline manager approval and the payment method minimum amount.
Payment methods (CASH, CARD, QR, GIFT, VOUCHER, CREDIT, ACCOUNT) and reason codes are also read-only lists. Only CASH affects the drawer and allows change.
Not available yet
These pages show Not built yet with the purpose and what is missing: Cashier shifts, Tender declarations, Opening and closing control, POS payments, Reprints, POS price rules, Screen layouts, Quick keys, Hardware profiles, Receipt templates, Return policies, Number series, hardware monitors, Manager overrides, Alert rules and most Reports.
Good to know
- Menu items show to everyone; if you open one without the right permission, the system refuses it.
- Turning off a feature does not delete records. Turning it back on restores the menus.
